$6 Million solicitation for C-130 Ballscrew assemblies

DLA Aviation is planning to issue an Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) for ballscrew assemblies used in the C-130 aircraft.  This assembly NSN 1680-01-217-5837 is described as:

“A self-contained power transmitting device designed to convert rotary motion to linear (straight line) mechanical movement. Must be comprised of a ball nut, pillow block(s), screw shaft and such accessories as required for the specific moving and positioning of other components.”

These were last sold to the military by CEF Industries for $8,377 in quantity of 49.  This current solicitation has no set quantity, but DLA estimates that they will buy 168 units each year.  The guaranteed minimum annual quantity is 42 units.  The contract will last for five years.

Based on past procurement history, we estimate the value of this contract at $6.2 Million.
