A quick note to increase your chances of finding more government opportunities:
When searching for open government solicitations for obscure items such as this be sure to have several different types of bid searches set up (keywords, FSC’s etc.) so that you capture all possibilities. Many times, we’ve seen items, solicitations posted on SAM.gov under the incorrect or misleading categories leading you to miss bid opportunities. So, the more diversified your searches are the better your chances of a win. Feel free to contact us and we may be able to help support@bidlink.net
Items like this are typically listed on GSA Advantage and purchased by government (through GSA contracts) however they do show up in solicitations posted on SAM.gov and DIBBs, so if you had a GSA Schedule contract and just waited for an order, you’d probably miss this one. Depending on the items you wish to sell if you’re not trolling for open solicitations on a daily basis, you might miss the big one.
Mobile Powered Workstations are listed under:
Product Service Code: 3590 – Miscellaneous Service and Trade Equipment
NAICS Code: 335999 – All Other Miscellaneous Electrical Equipment and Component Manufacturing
However, the person that created this solicitation did not look up the proper Product Service Code (PSC) so a search for 3590 would have missed this one.
Based on a quick review of the salient characteristics listed in the Statement of Work (SOW) it appears that these workstations to be used by DLADS are probably being used as Mobile Shipping Stations (rolling cart with computer and label printer) used to print labels for the item’s they are processing.
DLA Disposition Services is a division of the Department of Defense (DoD) that disposes of excess and surplus personal property generated by the military services. They transfer used goods to other Federal agencies/state and local organizations, sale to the public, or ultimate disposal through abandonment or destruction. You may even have seen Humve’s used by your local police or parks department, well more than likely they came from DLADS.
Here are a few key salient characteristics, a short description of the item:
The cart dimensions are approximately 18 in. wide by 30 in. long with a top work surface height of 41 inches adjustable down to 31.5 inches. Cart has a handle, heavy duty swivel casters with enclosed and ventilated shelf compartment to house a small Power System with a True Sine Wave (TSW) Inverter (500W peak) to power laptop computer and peripheral devices with hot swap batteries for the inverters. A variety of trays and shelves for label printers, laptop computer etc.
Multi-Year Contract
1st year quantity 75

As this item does not call out a specific manufacturer or part number, we did some quick research in BidLink and found to find an idea of pricing. One manufacturer of a powered carts we found was Newcastle Systems and under a GSA Scheduled contract part number PC550GBL was sold at $4327.27 each. Since this solicitation for Mobile Powered Workstations does not call out a specific manufacturer or part number the opportunity is open to virtually anyone meeting the characteristics. And the price we found gives us some idea what the potential 5-year contract can be worth. Total quantity 215 x $4327 approximately close to a million $930,305
This is for a single award with a one-year base period and four one-year options. It is a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) set-aside solicitation.
Since there this solicitation was not categorized with a stock number as many SAM bids are not, an NSN or PSC search would not have located it. in BidLink you can find it by putting “powered workstation” in bid search as a keyword search.
