DLA Land and Maritime has issued a pre-solicitation for long-term supply of ground support equipment including metal ammunition boxes.
We expect the Strategic Material Sourcing Group at the Defense Supply Center Columbus to post the details along with drawing packages for a potential 5-year Long Term Contract (LTC).
This presolicitation relates to the manufacture of two different types of Ground Support Equipment (GSE)/Aircraft Landing Equipment and Metal Ammunition Boxes.
DLA intends to purchase three different NSNs and it appears from some quick research in BidLink that there is little competition. Complete data packages are available.
The three items on this potential Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) are as follows:
National Stock Number | Description |
1005-01-567-3012 | Ammunition Magazine Boxes |
1710-00-831-6821 | Aircraft Arresting System Connector Assembly |
5340-01-486-7056 | Trailer Universal Rail Assembly |
The Armaments Center at Picatinny is responsible for the Ammunition Boxes, and the Connector Assembly appears to be a part of the Aircraft Arresting System managed by the Air Force.

This mobile aircraft arresting system, or MAAS is a deployable mobile barrier used for aircraft equipped with a tail hook used to slow down and stop the airplane, similar to the way planes land on aircraft carriers.
The connector NSN 1710-00-831-6821 lists Safran Engineered Arresting Systems CAGE 21439 as an OEM.
In January 2022 Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) announced that planned to acquire the assets of Safran Aerosystems Arresting Company.

In addition it appears that there are several other potentially large dollar open solicitation opportunities listed under CAGE 21439.
This Presolicitation is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside. All responses are due by September 9, 2022.
