DLA Aviation has issued a solicitation for the supply of branched wiring harnesses (6150-01-332-5926) used on the F-16. This harness has 18 branches and is 108 inches in length.  The OEM is Lockheed Martin with part number H16DW921-15. Technical data is available on this item so new companies can compete.

The last company to supply these to the military ware Richard Manufacturing which sold thme for $9,167 each in quantity of 15.  Holland Signal also sold them to the government. This current order calls for a quantity of 90 units and one first-article test item.

Based on past procurement history pricing we estimate the value of this contract at $825,000.  All offers are due by November 25, 2022.

DLA Land and Maritime is soliciting shock absorber housing assemblies (NSN 2530-01-347-7637) used in the M1A2 Joint Assault Bridge.  This is a perfect opportunity for a machine shop or CNC facility.  Technical data is available so new companies can compete, and at least part of the requirement is set-aside for small businesses.

The last company to supply these to the military was General Dynamics which sold them for $5,632 each in quantity of 52.  In a larger quantity of 240, they were sold for $3,759.  Other suppliers include Tecmotiv USA, Loc performance and Advanced CNC. The solicitation calls for 171 units. Based on past procurement history pricing we estimate the value of this contract at just under $1 Million.

A first article test item is required within 90 days with the remaining quantity delivered within 320 days.

DLA Aviation has announced that they would like to see more competition for this oil pressure gauge used on the C-130 aircraft.  It measures both the oil pressure (marked with black “E”) and gear oil pressure (marked with black “G”).  The operating temperature range is minus 65 degrees to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.  The part was originally manufactured by JGB Enterprises under part number 10405N01P00.

Currently the only supplier over the last six years is AAR Supply which sold 5 units for $25,295 each.  Prior to that, Kampi Components was selling them for $16,216 in quantity of 6. Other suppliers include Linmarr Associates, JGB Enterprises,  and Fulton Supply. The price has more than doubled over 10 years prompting DLA to consider looking for other suppliers.

There is no current solicitation for this item but DLA ordered an average of 13 of these gauges each year.  They estimate that they will spend $473,292 including contracting costs each year on this item.

A technical data package is available.  In fact, DLA is so interested in finding competition that they are making samples available to companies that wish to reverse-engineer this item.
