DLA Land and Maritime has issued a pre-solicitation so the military can determine if there are additional suppliers that can produce these anti-pilferage seals NSN 5340-01-260-9935.  The only current approved source is EJ Brooks Company.

If other companies can compete, DLA will be issuing a competitive solicitation on or about January 27, 2023. The resulting Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) will have three base years and two option years for a maximum of five.

There is no set quantity on this contract but DLA has set a maximum contract value of $2.1 Million over five years. Usually long-term contract maximums are also the anticipated amount that they will spend based on annual demand.

DLA Troop Support has issued a solicitation for parachute bags, NSN 1670-01-476-3131.  It is designed to assist and control the portion of a parachute’s operation occurring from the time of pack opening to the instant the suspension lines are fully extended, but prior to the inflation of the canopy. Technical data and military specifications are available for this item so new companies can compete.

The last company to sell these to the military was Aerial Machine & Tool which sold them for $129 each in quantity of 1,265.  A first article test item was sold for $1,000.

This current solicitation calls for 5,111 parachute bags. Based on past procurement history pricing, we estimate the value of this contract at approximately $800,000.

All offers are due by January 23, 2023.

DLA Troop Support has issued a solicitation which will result in a three year contract to supply protective gloves.  These gloves, NSN 8415-21-921-2167 are part of the Joint Services Lightweight Integrated Suit Technology (JSLIST) system. They are specifically designed to be worn by personnel to ensure protection from nuclear, biological and chemical contaminants.  They are non-flame resistant. They have an Airboss Defense part number of 0M990520.

The last company to supply these to the military was Canadian Commercial Corporation which sold them for $23.65 each in quantity of 100,000.  DLA estimates that they will purchase approximately 540,000 gloves over the three year period with a maximum quantity of 810,000.

Extra time was provided by the contracting officer with this solicitation closing on 3/14/2023. Technical data is available by way of a military specification.

Based on past procurement history we estimate the value of this contract at $12.7 Million over the contract term.

DLA Aviation has announced that they would like to see more competition on this gear used in the F-16  engine. This 45 tooth gear, NSN 3020-00-320-5179 is made from E9310 steel.  It has a diameter of 2.6 inches.  It is managed through Tinker and Robins air force bases.

It was most recently sold to the military by Raytheon for $912 each in quantity of 139.  The only other recent supplier was United Technologies. DLA purchases 1,727 of these gears each year for an annual estimated value of $1.5 Million.

There is no current solicitation for this item, but DLA is announcing that they would like to see more companies compete to supply this item. Technical data is available and DLA is even making samples available for potential suppliers to reverse engineer.

DLA Aviation has issued a solicitation which will result in a multi-year contract for supply of temperature transmitters, NSN 6685-00-373-9004.  These transmitters comply with MIL-DTL-7990, and operate on 24v DC. It is used on the KC-130 aircraft. The resulting contract will last for up to five years.

The last company to supply these to the military was Norwich Aero, which sold them for $83.47ea.  A contract earlier that year awarded to ASC International sold the transmitters for $244.60 each.  DLA anticipates buying 945 of these transmitters over the contract term.

We estimate the value of this contract at $78,000.

The PDF solicitation shows a due date of Dec 26, 2022, but the solicitation is showing as freshly posted to DLA on 1/5/2023.  DIBBS shows a closing date of 1/18/2023.
