DLA Aviation is looking for a long-term supplier of butt splice connectors.  This Indefinite Quantity Contract (IDC) will be used to release delivery orders over up to five years. These connectors, NSN 5940-00-271-7741 have a military specification number of M81824/1-2. It is governed under QPL AS81824 and SAE Specification SAE AS81824. The Current approved sources of supply are CAGE codes 06090, 06324, 55104, and 1JX75.

They were last supplied to the military by Management Solutions for $41.32 per package.  It was previously supplied by Tyco Electronics, M3 Associates and Glenair.

DLA estimates annual purchases of 2,759 packages.  If all five years of the contract are executed, the contract could be worth $114,000.

It was last sold to the military by Basic Rubber & Plastics for $236 each.  A first-article test item was delivered at a cost of $2,000 for the Government to approve before shipping the remaining quantity.  It was also supplied by Aero Components.

DLA Aviation is looking for companies to provide competition for this cable assembly used in the F-16 and A-10 Thunderbolt.  Currently the only supplier is Thunderbolt Defense.  The most recent purchase was for 75 units at $3,300 each.  The price has risen from $2,070 in 2019.

DLA estimates annual demand for this item at 321 units, which is up from 239 units earlier this year. They estimate annual purchases at $915,951.

The original Thales part number is A13091-5.  DLA is so interested in finding suppliers that they are willing to make a sample available to vendors to reverse engineer.

DLA Troop Support is soliciting 184 engine covers used on the CH-47 and MH-47 helicopters.  This cover, NSN 1730-00-990-9838 is used to protect the engine inlet from dirt and debris while parked.

The cover was last supplied to the military by B.W.I. of K.S., Inc. for $111.40 each in quantity of 146.  Other suppliers include Weckworth Manufacturing and R Jared Pearce. The original Boeing part number is 114G1206-1.

DLA Clothing and Textile has submitted a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a multi-year contract to supply Men’s Khaki shirts.  The contract will have one base year and four option years.  This Indefinite Delivery Contract (IDC) allows DLA to place monthly orders against it for up to five years.

The Defense Logistics Agency estimates annual purchases at 79,308 units each year.  The contract is capped at 495,675 shirts.  Lead time after the initial order is 120 days, with 90 day max lead time for subsequent orders.

The shirt, NSN 8305-01-509-5360 was sold to DLA in quantity of 60 for $10.05 each by Darwood Manufacturing.  The lowest price in prior procurement history is $7.97.  It was sold through GSA and DOD E-mall in smaller quantities for $34.55.   Shirts will comply with military specification Mil-S-3649G.

All proposals are due by October 26, 2020.

DLA Aviation is looking for companies to consider making this internal wrenching bolt.  Currently Boeing is also the only supplier.  Although in the past this bolt has sold for $882 each, the most recent order was for 15 units at $13,981 each.  The total contract value for that 15 piece order was $209,715.

DLA would like to see more competition for this part, used on the EA-18G and the F/A-18 Hornet.

The bolt has a Mcdonnell Douglas part number of 74A172213-2001 and a National Stock Number of 5306-01-462-2779.  DLA estimates annual demand at 120 units, totaling $1,108,778 in purchases each year.

There are no drawings or technical data on this item, but DLA can make a sample available for contractors to reverse engineer.
