DLA Aviation is looking for more companies to compete to supply this access cover used on the F-16C\/D aircraft.\u00a0 This panel, NSN 1560-01-420-9453<\/a> is located on the forward nose upper fuselage. It is made of synthetic rubber.<\/p>\n

The only company to supply this item over the last 20 years is Texstars, LLC., which won a five year contract (SPE4A7-21-D-0299) to supply these to the military.\u00a0 The unit price in quantity ranges from 47 – 188 units is $1,432 each.\u00a0 After annual price increases the unit price is $1,507 in the fifth year of the contract.<\/p>\n

DLA has determined that they would like to see more competition for this part. The government has a technical data package and drawings for this item.\u00a0 In fact, DLA is so interested in seeing more companies produce these that they are making samples available to be reverse engineered.<\/p>\n
