DLA Land and Maritime has issued a\u00a0 pre-solicitation for\u00a0long-term supply of ground support equipment including metal ammunition boxes.<\/p>\n

We expect the Strategic Material Sourcing Group at the Defense Supply Center Columbus to post the details along with drawing packages for a potential 5-year Long Term Contract (LTC).<\/p>\n

This presolicitation relates to the manufacture of two different types of Ground Support Equipment (GSE)\/Aircraft Landing Equipment and Metal Ammunition Boxes.<\/p>\n

DLA intends to purchase three different NSNs\u00a0 and it appears from some quick research in BidLink that there is little competition.\u00a0 Complete data packages are available.<\/p>\n

The Armaments Center at Picatinny is responsible for the Ammunition Boxes, and the Connector\u00a0 Assembly appears to be a part of the Aircraft Arresting System managed by the Air Force.<\/p>\n

This mobile aircraft arresting system, or MAAS is a deployable mobile barrier used for aircraft equipped with a tail hook used to slow down and stop the airplane, similar to the way planes land on aircraft carriers.<\/p>\n

The connector NSN 1710-00-831-6821 lists Safran Engineered Arresting Systems CAGE 21439 as an OEM.<\/p>\n

In January 2022 Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE: CW) announced that planned to acquire the assets of Safran Aerosystems Arresting Company.<\/p>\n
