DOD contract numbers can tell you a lot about the contract type, location, and when it was awarded.\u00a0 Knowing this can help you understand the different procurement methods while scanning procurement history.<\/p>\n

A contract number (like\u00a0SPE7LX-25-T-0603) is broken into sections:<\/p>\n

SPE7LX<\/strong> – DODAAC or Agency code.\u00a0 This is the office that issued it.<\/p>\n

25<\/strong> – The year it was issued.<\/p>\n

T<\/strong> – Instrument type (9th position)<\/p>\n

0603 –\u00a0<\/strong>Instrument number; Usually sequential, incrementing upward.<\/p>\n

THE NINTH POSITION<\/p>\n
