DLA Aviation has issued a solicitation which will result in a five year contract for exhaust duct used on the C-5 aircraft. This item, NSN 1660-00-421-2087 is described as an air conditioning duct, although technical characteristics say it’s for the, “Right side Air Turbine Motor Exhaust”. Technical data is available on this item so new companies can compete.
The last company to supply these to the military is S3 Aerodefense which sold them for $19,558 each in quantity of 6. This price has more than doubled from $7,800ea in 2022.
DLA estimates that they will purchase 40 units each year for a total of 200 units over five years. Based on past procurement history pricing we estimate the value of this contract at just under $4 Million.
